Today is the 35th anniversary of my sister’s unsolved murder. I didn’t want to say anything, but Doreen Prior – who is wiser than me – recommended that I post something. So I am posting something.
It is a wound that never heals.

I was thinking about all those people who say, “Get on with your life.” and how clueless they are. Some wounds never heal. Doreen Prior, are you wiser than me too?
@ Bill: I was speaking about Debbie’s case to a Durham police chief just last week.
John: I didn’t know the Durham police were involved in the case. I’d be interested in hearing what they have to say. Chief Hutchison and Lt. Lao are now retired from Carrboro police, and Lt. Westbrook is the new lead investigator.
I’m sure Doreen remembers a person named Lisa who left a comment in the Sharron Prior guestbook. I’ve heard from such people also.
It wasn’t that kind of a talk… just informally.
The police in this case are more invested in being RIGHT than solving the case of what REALLY happened. Lazy and miserly; not wanting to dig for real clues. AND if the girl had done LSD, seriously, to OD on LSD? She’d have to have taken so much and this situation would cause a temporary psychotic episode and not be a disguisable hush-hush situation.People wigging out on LSD are erratic and noisy. Not easy to hide. Also I only know of ONE person who OD’d on LSD and she swallowed 100 hits.On purpose.. Plus, no one saw her that night. No evidence she was even AT at the party. And OD-ing on LSD pretty damned hard. And noisy. Someone witnessing this break-down would ASSIST — not hide. No motive to hide such an incident. All clues point to a serial sexual murderer. The cop does not want to bare the shame of admitting he was wrong. But he was. The girl either hitchiked or walked along and some psycho abducted + raped her and smothered her or something. Then folded her clothes neatly ; all calm after his homicidal ‘release’…dumping evidence (scarf, wallet etc) on his way back home up north. Hey maybe he worked at the school and lives near there. The school did not want bad publicity. I suggest wallet would be last item disposed of after the girl’s murder…so he abducts her in the north, drives south to area he knows well (sportsman or man with cottage) and then drives back north to his HOME or work…right there where he hunts the girls once more. Bra and pantry-clad victim says RAPE.Police destroy crucial evidence so rapidly to hide the one thing they actually know: That they f-ed up, bungled the case due to laziness and miserliness and risk a lawsuit.; all because they couldn’t be BOTHERED. Lazy. The man they questioned and released and lost all the evidence on that encounter?? Again, gross miscarriage of justice, neglect, lazy and wanting to sweep evidence under rug. Almost behaving as if THEY, themselves are guilty (the police and school board try to hide facts and create subterfuge with a preposterous, fabricated lie about what they imagined happened in some cheesy crime novel they are inventing–well this is real life and real death. FACTS speak as does evidence. Facts were ignored and evidence destroyed. That speaks volumes.. These incompetent people were so invested in believing their own tal tales, sweeping evidence under the rug and looking the other way ( trivializing the tragic and important circumstances of a missing and murdered woman) that they helped aid the serial sexual killer in continuing his hunting-humans project.. All for reputation and saving money and effort. So sorry for the families. At least the brother of this girl got a taste of what a GENUINE police effort really looks like so he could compare and know, beyond the shadow of a doubt that the school-board and police in his sister’s “murder-inquiry” screwed up royally from the get-go. A lawsuit might be a good idea.Sue the school and the police for negligence and miscarriage of justice.Write a book and shame them.I would never send a child to this college after seeing this blatant disregard.
