Alleged serial killer Col. Russell Russ Williams may have been a busy boy

The Vancouver Sun has posted the Canadian Department of National Defense’s profile of Russ Williams (after the agency took it down):

So let’s see:

1.   He was stationed at Trenton Air Force base (where I was born)

2.   He graduated from the University of Toronto circa 1986 (when I attended U of T)

3.   1990: Stationed at 3 Canadian Forces Flying Training School at Portage La Prairie, Manitoba (“any cold cases there?” have a look at Glenda Morrisseau:)

4.   1992: Stationed at Shearwater Canadian Forces Base in Halifax (“calling all cold cases!” check Carla Gail Strickland, Andrea Lynn King, Shelley Conners, and  Kimber Lucas:)

5.  Late 1990s: Posted to 412 (Transport) Squadron in Ottawa (gotta be some unsolveds there)

6.   2004: obtains Masters from Royal Military College, Kingston, Ontario (prison capital of Canada)

7.  2004:  437 (Transport) Squadron, Trenton, Ontario

8.  2005 – 2006: Camp Mirage,  Middle East

9.  2009: 6 months French language training, Gatineau, Quebec

And those are just the highlights. This guy has been everywhere, and as a military officer has had privileged access to virtually anywhere.

  1. Mary, your emotions are getting the best of you. Are you a personal friend of the ex Col and his beloved wife? People aren’t really expressing hatred of Ms. Harriman, only trying to make some sense of an unthinkable situation. Who would be thinking of damage to floors at a time like this? One of his victims reported the items he stole were thousands of dollars. Who will be compensating people for the fear and violation they have suffered? A simple statement by his wife at least acknowledging the senseless deaths of these young women and the destruction he caused, letting people know she had no idea of what was happening and is as horrified as we all are, would have gone along way in my opinion. How anyone would want to stay connected with such a monster is beyond most people’s understanding and sympathy. You describe her`as smart but you’d have to be pretty stupid to have multiple boxes of underwear in your house and not notice(like Catlady I too know exactly what is at my home)
PS Making fun of someone’s name makes you look like an idiot.

  2. Kat:

Where did you hear that the colonel stole thousands of dollars? Certainly not from any media.

I don’t know the colonel and his wife from a hole in the wall. What I do know is that the public, loves to pass judgement on others so they can feel superior or build their little lives into something bigger.

Brioche (croissant), Mathilda and just opinions feel that Ms. Harriman should take responsibility for the actions of her husband. In short, she has commited the crime of being his wife. She too is a victim whose life has been destroyed. It is arrogant and ignorant to pass judgement on her choices.

Hardly surprising; most humans are ignorant, arrogant and stupid.

  3. Kat:

Making fun of a name!? Surely brioche, croissant, flaky pastry is a made up name. Its too ridiculous to be real.

  4. Kat:

Ms. Harriman has no obligation to provide a public mea culpa. How she handles her present situation and her future choices are entirely her business.

There are so many “victims” in this case. Anyone who lost a bra is a “victim”. Such is our self obsessed society – as many “victims” as possible are lining up to become “victims”. This gives them their jollys

  5. Mary D
The thousands of dollars “Kat” must be referring to are the value of garments stolen by him. To say that anyone who “lost a bra” is a victim is incredible. These peoples homes were broken into and grossly violated. To say that being a victim gives people the “Jollys”is beyond comment. Once your home has been broken into and violated you may change your outlook. None of the comments here at this site give me any indication of people getting pleasure from the pain of others. We can only imagine the pain and suffering Jessica and Mary France(and others) went through and I know many shed tears at hearing Jessica’s final words to her mother. You paint a dismal picture of our society and our ability to look out for and care for one another. People are trying to understand the horror of what has happened. In many missing persons cases many members of the public come forward to help search. Two strangers driving on the highway past Jessica’s house noticed the pathfinder in a field and reported this.
You are right that his wife has the right to handle her situation however she sees fit. The fact that her actions and silence have upset some is understandable. However, if she chooses to remain “Mrs Williams” she will have to face the music as a married couple-including their assets just as the rest of us would have to. She is either with him or not. I think you enjoy shaking things up with your comments-does keep things interesting.

  6. Catlady:

At no point did I suggest that the victims were getting their jollys. I was referring to the audience at the hearing last week. If such souls are so sensitive that they had to leave in “disgust” why were they there in the first place. It was the same during of Paul Bernardo: if tickets had been given away in a contest the demand would have been overwhelming.

    To quote the Toronto Star

the media played to the “baying of the prurient masses” as the trial gave vent to “the lacivious impulses of society”.

Those quotes say it all. Are you listening Brioche (croissant), Matilda, just opinions and Kat.

  7. Catlady:

If Jane Doe wishes to go after Williams, he is fair game. His wife however, is innocent and she cannot be impoverished simply for the “crime” of being his wife.

Jane Doe is young and naive: a greedy lawyer has convinced her that she can make a killing on her situation. If she is on contingency and gets anything at all, the lawyer will take the whole thing. That is how lawyers work. They take such cases to make money. Jane Doe is being victimized a second time. If she cannot prove that the property transfer was in any way connected to her lawsuit, she is out of luck. If the transfer took place before Ms Harriman was served with the suit, then there is no connection. Courts do not award damages on presumed intent.

  8. citizen

How do you know that Ms Harriman is “covering up”. Where’s your evidence?

The “truth” is often what one wants to believe.

  9. Matilda

According to the Ontario Provincial Police, anyone who suffers damage to property during a police search can claim compensation. Ms. Harriman was not “hounding” the police; she requested what she was entitled to.

As for her having few friends who, according to you, are deserting her, where do you get your marvelous inside info. Maybe your “sidekick” is on the inside of the OPP? Highly unlikely. Your sidekick is probably on the “inside” of Kingston Pen.

  10. gabs:

You, Brioche (croissant), Matilda, Kat, Just Opinions and Catlady arre the angry ones. All of you want to see Ms. Harriman suffer even if the police are satisfied that she is innocent. I’m not angry – just rational: for example my observation that courts do not award damages without proof. Jane Doe cannot collect just because she claims that the property transfer was to avoid a payout. You and your ilk are the angry ones – you want to see this lady punished because of her relationship to Williams.

Perhaps I should qualify my remark about the courts requiring rationality: the free reign given to the mob (the disgusted) in the Belleville court two weeks ago made me wonder. There was a time in Ontario when the judge would have cleared the court when the clapping, crying, foot stomping started. It truly was a mob spectacle.

Will the mob turn up when the family who murdered its own children in the Rideau Canal come to trial. Probably not. Not politically correct!

  11. To Laura Saueracker:

Your comment of October 18 was beautiful. It said it all: you described exactly what motivates the mob.

The spectacle in Belleville from October 18 to the 21st was not a trial or even a sentencing hearing. It was a week long group hug. Justice Scott should have maintained order: instead he allowed a mob circus.

  12. Mary(Elizabeth), you are disgusting and crude. You appear to think that you are above everyone, just like your buddy Russ. Shame on you for criticising the victims of Rapist Russ, their family and friends and Justice Scott.

  13. To Laura Sauercracker;
Thank you ! So wonderfully and eloquently stated.
We ( society) need people like you. You restore my faith
    in humanity.

  14. to disgusted

what make you think that I’m Mary Elizabeth? She, smart woman refuses to lower herself to the braying mob – janet croissant (bread roll), catlady, kat, just opinions etc.

I admire her for refusing to be fodder for the fantasies of the lower orders.

  15. to disgusted with mary

there was an idiot named “disgusted”
who believed that his own views god himself
    trusted
but god spoke to him and said “disgusted,
    you’re disgusting
since you’re are stupid, crude and in you
    there could be no trusting.”

  16. Mary Diwell, you come off like a someone who knows Harriman personally… with comments like “She, smart woman refuses to lower herself to the braying mob”.. Do us good turn? Tell her that the braying mob thinks she is just as disgusting as her sick husband for giving a CRAP at this moment about damaged hardwood floors AND for transferring funds from her psychopathic murdering husband into her possession to deny his VICTIMS rightful compensation. That little trick illustrates why someone like her and Russ got along so well; both frauds!!! Harriman is like so so many delusional upper middle class woman, so full of “self-righteousness” and “entitlement” above others in society, but carefully packaged into a “do gooder” personna. Russ TOOK what he wanted, Harriman TOOK what she wanted..i have sympathy for either trainwreck, nor should ANYONE else!

Mary *Diwell* tell your nasty gal pal Harriman that i hope the Tweed victim sues her for every f**king penny!!!!

  17. Throughout this great scheme of things you’ll get a B+ just for effort and hard work. Exactly where you confused me personally was in your details. You know, it is said, the devil is in the details… And that couldn’t be much more true right here. Having said that, allow me reveal to you just what exactly did work. Your authoring is actually quite powerful and that is most likely the reason why I am making an effort in order to comment. I do not really make it a regular habit of doing that. Second, even though I can notice a leaps in reasoning you make, I am definitely not convinced of just how you appear to unite your details which in turn help to make the actual conclusion. For now I will yield to your point but hope in the future you connect the facts much better.

  18. there was an idiot called “blubberin goat”
over the misfortune of others he/she would gloat
Mary Liz was “nasty” and Mary was bad
when Mary condemned the mob it made
    “blubberin” so sad.

there was an idiot called “blubberin goat”
who, like the mob wanted Mary Liz hung high
over Mary Liz’s destruction “blubberin” and the
    would gloat
for them “get her” was their rallying cry.

Mary dislikes the mob and “blubberin” too
for they’re always “disgusted” but are
    hypocrites through and through
cries the mob “Mary Liz is nasty; she deserves
    all she gets
but we’re totally perfect so to stone throwing
    we say “lets”.”

  19. Fully perceive what your stance in this matter. Although I might disagree on some of the finer details, I believe you probably did an awesome job explaining it. Positive beats having to analysis it on my own. Thanks

  20. You’re right, both Mary Liz and Russ Williams had a privileged upbringing. Their parents raised them to think they were better than others. Middle class children do not, and cannot afford to go to such an elite private school as Upper Canada College, as Russ did. Mary Liz did not associate with mine workers that she went to high school with, her father held a very high position. They were right for each other. Such people are not likeable by the average person, they were lucky from the beginning. There are many such people in Ontario, but the majority are not rapists and killers, arrogant yes, criminals no.
I do not believe there are any cold cases, I think he would have admitted to them as he admitted to all his crimes. In fact, he willingly led police to one of the bodies and showed police where to look in his home for evidence, in order to spare his wife. Obviously something, either an event or a person, triggered Russ Williams sudden change in behavior. After buying their new upscale home in Ottawa, the husband and wife were rarely together, already almost estranged, frequently living in separate homes and miles apart. Quite possible that Mary Liz was completely unaware, or perhaps too caught up in her own career and life to care. That does not make her an accessory, as you are trying to make her out to be. She did not create the monster. The monster was already in him and under control, until something or someone unleashed it.

  21. Mary Diwell is a huge hypocrite, and a wack – job of the first order. Anyone who listens to a THING she has to say is clearly ‘staring into the abyss’.

  22. Undeniably imagine that that you stated. Your favorite justification seemed to be on the internet the simplest factor to understand of. I say to you, I definitely get irked at the same time as other people consider concerns that they just do not recognise about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the top and also outlined out the whole thing with no need side-effects , other people can take a signal. Will probably be again to get more. Thanks

  24. The more I research the topic of serial killers, the more amazed I am at some of the twisted thinking of these people. Serial Killers lik Russ Williams are the scariest kind, ones you would see on the street and not suspect of such heinous crimes. The fact that some of the walk among us unnoticed is unsettling, to say the least.
