“Healing Centre” for Victims/Survivors Survey

I have two dear friends, Marjean Fichtenberg and Sherry Edmunds-Flett who are in the midst of doing some victim research in Abbotsford. They are trying to assess the need for a Healing Centre in Abbotsford for homicide victims and need folks to complete an online survey.

Background: Marjean’s son, Dennis was murdered in Prince George in 1991 (the story of the aftermath for Marjean is as horrific as any a victim’s struggle I have heard). She is a member of Canada’s National Parole Board victims advisory committee, and has guest posted on this blog for several months.  Sherry  has raised in Canada’s prison capital, Kingston, Ontario. She has taught in prison systems for several years, and is a pioneer in Canada restorative justice initiatives.

Personally I think it’s a no-brainer; does the murder-capital of Canada need a healing centre? Hell yes! But research and government allocation of resources doesn’t really work that way.

So please take a moment to fill out their survey. Click here to go to the site.
